How to Tame Your Inner Critic: A Simple Habit to Rewire Your Brain & Why it's so hard to hear negative feedback       After reading the first article listed above one line that stuck out the most for me was " Instead of brooding over setbacks, you begin treating each setback as a springboard for small helpful steps, accompanied by self-congratulation." This is important to understand especially because with setbacks your normally get discoruaged but that idea is important in beginning to rewire your brain. The article discusses as you begin to rewire your brain which is your biggest critic it can become one of your greatest allies or cheerleader. It also helped branch into the next article which dives into why it is hard to recieve negative feedback. Both articles ultimately ended on the point that if you are recieving feedback reframe it so that it can lead to self-improvement. Thinking back to a time where negative feedback has led to a betterment in mysel...

Semester Project Topic Brainstorm

Image
Topic Brainstorm After browsing the project ideas index I have chosen the 4 following topics that I am the most interested in: Option 1. The first topic I found the most interesting to advance on was music. After taking Native American music last semester I think it would be pretty easy to break down and understand the different aspects of Indian music culture. The index described how in the different epics you will see how music and dancing are apart of the plot. I had learned in native American music how music is used to tell stories in different regions which makes analyzing music for the class relatable.   Resource Link Option 2. The second topic I am interested in exploring for the semester project is food in Indian culture. In the index, it discussed there are many different references to food in epics, as well as the fact that there are many different ways that food and stories about food can be woven in a story. I find that important because I would like to explore a ...

Reading Notes: Week 2 Anthology

Image
The Giant Crab, and Other Tales from Old India by W. H. D. Rouse.    Goblin City     This story was my favorite of them all and I felt like it stood out the most.  In this story, it discusses that there was a large city of she-goblins inhabiting an island sometime in the past. One day a ship of sailors crashed ashore the goblin island. The goblins pulled some trickery in order to fool the sailors into thinking everything was normal on the island. The she-goblins convinced the sailors to all marry them with the ulterior motive of locking them away and eating them.  One night when all the sailors would sleep the she-goblins woke and headed towards their prison and killed and ate a few men. One sailor in particular became knowledgeable of what was going on. He did this by pretending to be asleep as his wife (she-goblin) would come and go. One night when he was pretending he looked out of the corner of his eye and noticed her devouring a man. After, he h...

Week 2 Reading Overview

Image
For the Ramayana we will be reading next week, I decided to choose the Public Domain Edition: Ramayana. I chose this edition because its various styles and authors. I think it will make it easier to choose different plot elements to tell my own story. I also like that the Public Domain Edition contains lots of illustrations while the modern editions contain none at all. I can possibly use the illustrations used in the reading for my blog posts. The Public Domain Edition overall features some key factors I could not pass up, as I feel they will go a long way in making my assignments easier. One of the comics I chose was Vishvamrita: The King Who Became an Ascetic . I chose this one because the story sounds amusing, it is about a King who the greatest of all sages. The second comic I chose is The Sons of Rama: Luv and Kush -- The Invincible Twins . I chose this one because of the title, the idea behind invincible twins was too intriguing to pass up. The video I chose is Foods for Go...
