Week 2 Story: Goblin City

In a faraway land, there was a world of fantasy creatures and many different types of adventurers that could be paid to complete different excursions and quests. One young adventurer by the name of Kurama had heard tells of this land and wanted the opportunity to explore it himself. Kurama was a young and kind person but had been sheltered all his life. After many years of being home at his family farm, Kurama decided to set out for this world of fantasy and begin his first adventuring party. He along with some friends had taken his family boat and sailed until they reached their destination. Upon reaching his destination he and his crew had signed their first contract which was to assist in getting rid of some goblins in a cave. The different contracts are based on experience level and are paid accordingly. As they set off for there first beginner level assignment they soon learned that the task was a lot harder than they had realized. Soon Kurama had realized that everyone in his group had been wiped out and eaten by the Goblins. Before Kurama could be taken out he noticed a large figure in front of him. It was a masked man riding a horse and within seconds he had wiped out the horde of Goblins ready to kill Kurama. After eradicating the goblins and saving Kurama the masked man began to ride away on his horse. Before he could leave Kurama called out to him for help on how to get stronger and rank up as an adventurer. The masked man agreed and helped Kurama up on his horse. What Kurama did not know is the masked man is actually one of the highest rank adventurers and had achieved that rank by only killing Goblins. While riding away on his horse, Kurama learned about his savior's strong prejudice towards Goblins. Kurama's kind-hearted nature refused to believe that all Goblins are evil like the masked man was telling him. However, Kurama felt he could learn a lot from this man and maybe help convince him that there are good goblins somewhere in this new world.

Authors Note: I decided to change the story quite a bit. After reading the original story it reminded me of a show I had seen before. From there, I decided to change the characters and plot to help convey what I had remembered. All in all, I decided to go with an ending pretty close to the original, which was that both had some mysterious character who had a strong hate for goblins save the protagonist.

  1. Hi Wesley, I really like that you ended your story stating that Kurama refuses to believe that all goblins are bad, even after he had lost all of his friends to goblins. I think that just goes to show how kind and open-minded Kurama is, not letting prejudices guide him towards engaging in needless destruction, unlike the masked man. I am curious to know which show you had seen before that guided your retelling of this story?

  2. Hi Wesley, I enjoyed reading your story. I like how you changed it up, I'm curious as to how the original story was, maybe I'll have to read it sometime. I think it's interesting that he ran into that man on his first contract, what are the chances of that. I'm sure it helped him out a lot. keep up the great stories.
