Introduction to Wes The Goat

Hello, My name is Wesley Williams and I am a biology pre-dentistry major. The coolest thing about my major is that I only had to take Calculus and not go any further in math. One of the best classes I took last semester was Native American Music. It was really easy and the teacher made it very enjoyable as we learned about the music culture of different Native American tribes. One of my biggest accomplishments last semester was going on a vegetarian diet for two weeks. A few of my favorite TV shows are Snowfall, Breaking Bad, Money Heist, and Power. A couple of my favorite movies are Blue Streak, Juice, Paid in Full, and American Assassin. Some of my favorite music artists are Juice Wrld, Polo G, Money Man, and Rod Wave. I listen to a lot of different artists but those are a few that I am currently listening to a lot. Some of my hobbies are playing video games, working out, and watching TV. One thing I would like to try if I had more time is going golfing. A few of my favorite foods are pizza, wings, and tacos. One of my favorite places to get wings is at Bobo's in Oklahoma City. I also have way too many least favorite foods to write down in just one post. A long term career goal of mine is to be able to open my own dental practice. One of my big dream goals is to get my own pilot license and to be able to travel wherever and whenever I want. A few places I would definitely enjoy traveling to are Dubai, Japan, and Canada. Finally, I have one dog and his name is Tyson and here is a picture my mom sent me of him sneaking out of my room last week:

  1. Hi Wesley! That is amazing that you became vegetarian last semester! I have tried cutting things out of my diet recently such as dairy, so I can relate somewhat to sticking to certain food groups. I also am a huge Breaking Bad fan. I would recommend the spinoff Better Call Saul! I think it is almost as good as the original show. Have a good semester!

  2. Hi Wesley! I am very impressed that you were a vegetarian for a little while. I watched a Netflix documentary about being vegetarian/plant-based (I can't remember what it is called, but it had Arnold Schwarzenegger in it), and it blew my mind. I love eating healthy and learning more about nutrition, so it was really great to watch! However, I think that I love BBQ a little too much too commit... so kudos to you!

  3. Hi Wes! I think that it is really cool that you managed to be a vegetarian for two weeks when your favorite foods include pizza, wings, and tacos. I would have needed to feast afterwards! It's a little mysterious that you have too many least favorite foods for just one post... I'm assuming you are a picky eater? If so, then that's cool because I'm pretty picky too! Your dog is really cute.

  4. Hi Wesley, I enjoyed reading your introduction, as I noticed we have a lot of common interests! I also took Native American Music (last semester) and thought it was an easy A, which was nice to help balance out my harder classes. I'm interested to hear more about why your vegetarian diet ended? I'm a huge protein fan, but a lot of my relatives are vegetarian due to their high blood pressure. I am also trying to golf more, as my boyfriend is on the path to the PGA tour! I guess I should become pretty goos, since I have a free professional coach, right? If I come up with any secret tips, I'll be sure to tell you. I think it is super inspiring that your long term goals is to open up your own dental practice; thought I should mention that I also hope to do the same in the future, but an occupational therapy clinic! I look forward to reading more of your blog posts.

  5. Oh, your Tyson is such a cutie, Wes! That is definitely one of the best things about reading lots of Introductions this week: all the adorable pets, including dogs and cats and also some more exotic pets as well!
And how great that you did a Native American music class. Maybe you would be interested in using this class to learn about the music of India! It is a big part of the lives of the gods and goddesses and of the epic characters; Krishna, for example, who is the hero if the Mahabharata and an avatar of the god Vishnu, is very famous for playing his flute, called the bansuri link... and the antagonist of the Ramayana, though he may be a villain, is a great musician also: Ravana, who used his own head and guts to make a veena - link.... Ravana is said to have composed a hymn for the god Shiva thousands of years ago, and if you go to YouTube, you will find lots of recordings of this hymn: Tandava Stotra link ... so, just to say: the stories and also the music of the Indian Epics are very much alive in India today too! :-)

  6. Hey Wesley!
Cute dog! I love dogs so much, I am a big dog person myself, but they are all good boys. I am trying out veganism myself, but I am super picky! Sometimes I cave and eat chicken, and I eat a lot of eggs, but I guess I need the protein. I think some effort is better than nothing at all in the grand scheme of things. Also, you have amazing taste in TV shows, those are all so good! I look forward to reading your writing this semester!

  7. Hi, Wesley!
I have a dog too, and I think your pup is super cute! My dog loves sneaking onto my bed too, haha. I think it’s really cool you tried going vegetarian! I am a vegetarian and I love hearing when other people try it out too. I also love pizza- my mom’s last name means flour in italian!

  8. Hi Wesley, I also a Biology major, and I am also so glad that I don't have to take any more math than calculus! That is awesome that you would like to visit Dubai! I have been there once in between flights on my way to India, and it's so beautiful. When you do go, I recommend visiting the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Also make sure to stay to watch the fountain show at night, when they use all the colored lights! Nearby Dubai is Abu Dhabi, which is where you can see the Grand Mosque, which is in my opinion, one of the most beautiful and intricately designed buildings I have ever visited, alongside the Taj Mahal in Agra, India!

  9. Hey Wes,
I didn't know you were in this class, but glad to see you and your blogs. Pretty impressive you went vegan for 2 whole weeks, I feel like that's pretty tough to do. Your dog is so cute, I have 2 dogs as well. All of the artists you listen to are fire and make really good music.

  10. Wesley, many of your interests align with mine such as your tased in music and desire to have your own medical practice in the future! I have visited the places you mentioned you would like to and what can I say, they are really cool! I was born in the UAE so Dubai is like my second home that I visit quite often. It is a very beautiful place with a very rich history. I hope you get to visit someday!

  11. Wesley,
I don't think that I have the willpower to go vegetarian for two weeks. Meat and protein in general is just something that I enjoy too much to give up. I applaud you on your accomplishment, it shows that you have a lot of willpower! Your dog is cute, post more pictures, haha. I haven't taken Native American Music, but I might have to look into it because you said it was one of the your better classes.

  12. Hi Wesley! Native American music sounds like a really fun class, and it's always cool to learn more about the musical traditions of different cultures. Also, it would be awesome to have a plane and be able to fly to different countries. Canada is really beautiful! It has the highest tides in the world, as well as a lot of old French-Canadian cities.
It's great that you took the initiative to try going vegetarian for two weeks. It sounds like something that might not be sustainable in the long run if your favorite food is wings, but at least you got to try it out.

  13. Hi Wesley,

I can relate to the benefit in your major. I only had to go up to Calculus 2 and I have not looked back since I finished it. How was the vegetarian diet? I do not believe I could survive without meat. It is just too good. I would also like to get a pilot's license one day but for helicopters. Cute dog and good luck with your goals!

  14. Hey Wesley! Great intro! I am also a biology major and I totally agree that not having to take beyond calculus is a perk. Also great job on your accomplishment of eating a vegetarian diet for two weeks. You mentioned bobos and I have heard so many good things about that place! My boyfriend and i have ben trying to go but never seem to find them there. Also your the picture of your dog is very cute. Have a great semester!

  15. Hey Wesley,
I definitely feel you in the math front I never wanted to have to go beyond calculus 2. After that it is just doing to much at that point. Snowfall is one of my favorite TV shows I have ever seen. The way all the different stories are going on at the same time is amazing. Your dog is hilarious, my dog at home used to do that until I got a dog in college and now the other one is kind of jealous. Have a great semester!

  16. Hey Wesley!

This was a pretty great post! I see you have a great music and tv taste. I really enjoyed watching Breaking Bad with Heisenberg. It is unfortunate that the ending of the tv series still didn't answer a lot of questions. In my personal opinion, they could have done much better. Money Heist is also a great series. I am also a biology major, so Im sure we have taken some classes together! Best of luck to you and I hope you are able to fly wherever you want soon!
