King Dasharatha
- Dashrata who was the father of Rama & Mithila
- Dashrata was of the solar race
- Dashrata was upset because no son has been born to him by any of his queens
Dasharatha's Sons
- Kaushayla is the chief queen as well as the wife of Maharajah
- Dashrata was promised four sons at the cost of a horse sacrifice
- Vishnu the preserve protects against evil
- People cried out to Vishnu
- Vishnu came to earth to defeat Ravana
- Ravana was the monarch of Rakshasas
Vishvamitra
- Vishvamitra is a sage with a strong determination to stop Ravana (monarch)
- Vishvamitra requests aid from the King
- Vishva request Rama to battle Ravana
Thataka
- Thataka is a shapeshifting woman
- Rama's first battle is with Thataka
- He kills Thataka and receives celestial weapons as a reward
- Ganga is a goddess who was brought down to earth
- Bhagiratha brought the river Ganges to earth

- Indra changes appearance to look like Gautama
- Does it so he can get close Ahalya
- Ahalya is the wife of Guatama
- Sita is the avatar of Lakshmi
- Sita and Rama fall in love with each other
- Sita is the daughter of King Janaka
- King Janaka rules over Mithila
- For one to marry Sita they must be able to bend the bow of shiva
- Rama passes the test of bending the bow of shiva
- Rama is allowed to marry Sita
- Like Rama, Parashurama is an avatar of Vishnu
- Parashurama decides to challenge Rama
- Rama and Sita get married
- Dasharatha has to appoint a successor to the throne
- Rama was chosen to be the heir out of the 4 sons
- Manthara does not want Rama to be the heir and wants him exiled
- Manthara is a servant who works in Kaikeyi's home
- Kaikeyi agrees with Manthara
- Kaikeyi also believes her son should be the heir
- Rama was astonished to be exiled during his ceremony

Rama Goes into Exile- In order to be honorable to his father, Rama leaves willfully
- Sita and Lakshmana decide to join him
- He decides to leave for 14 years
- Changed their hair to matted locks the customary hairstyle of people in the forest
- Sita vowed to worship the River queen
- Dasharatha believes he is receiving karma because he begins to remember a time he hurt young hermit
- Before dying he believed his death was punishment for his transgressions in the past
- Dashrata recalls a hunting accident and tells the story
- Kushayla and Sumitra knelt beside him as he died
