Week 13 Story: The Last Son

 The Last Son

Once upon a time, there was a prestigious family with five sons. Each of the sons with a chance to succeed their father and become king of the realm. A War was starting and each of the sons and King got ready for the battle in order to defend the realm. The youngest son Thorfinn was meant to stay home and protect his mother and sisters. Thorfinn was very stubborn and loved to hunt with his brothers. Of course, he was extremely upset by this and decided to actually sneak on his family ship and go off to war too. As soon as he realized the ship was far enough to not turn back he revealed to his father and brothers he was on board. It wasn't until later that this would become a problem. Not even a full day at sea and the ship came under attack from enemy forces. Abruptly, Thorfinn's brothers and father were overwhelmed by the enemy and killed. Since Thorfinn was just a child the enemy decided to take him in and raise him as their own. Many years later, Thorfinn was a well-respected warrior and known as a prodigy but now fighting on the other side of the war. The war had come to an end. All was well until one winter the Queen of the realm was hosting a tournament of sorts to see who was the strongest warrior. The queen who is actually Thorfinn’s biological mother was in attendance. She was very pleased with the battles she had seen thus far as her strongest knight Arjuna had not lost a match. Arjuna was known as the strongest within the kingdom. During the tournament, a mysterious cloaked warrior had arrived at battle and challenged Arjuna. Thorfinn still unaware of who he is fighting for removed his cloak and bowed to the queen before taking the battle against Arjuna.

The Queen Watching the Tournament.

Authors Note: The story above originated from the story of the five sons of Pandu. This story discussed Pandu who is the father of five tall sons. In this story, there is a tournament when the sons come of age. I decided to take the story in a different direction with the only synonymous thing being Arjuna the character and the tournament itself. I decided to let my imagination as well as some tv knowledge tell this story. The story of Thorfinn is actually from something I've seen called Vinland Saga where he is taken by the enemy and raised to become a strong warrior.

  1. Hey Wesley!

This was a great read! You can tell you let your imagination run wild as you were telling the story of Arjuna winning Draupadi in a archery tournament? I really like the plot that you used as well. Thorfinn was only trying to help his family and people out by joining them in war. It is unfortunate that he was basically kidnapped after they raided the ship. I am glad you were able to come up with this great story from something you have watched!
